I Pconfig

This is a guide for Windows users to use an application called ipconfig to get information about your PC's configuration. This guide will show you how to find your computer's IP address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway. This information is useful for setting up Static IP addresses on your PC, and getting the address to log into your router/gateway. Apple/Mac users click here.

For XP Users:

  • Click Start
  • Click Run
  • Type cmd into the run bar
  • Press OK (you should see your command prompt)
  • Type ipconfig into the command prompt
  • Press Enter

You should now see the computer's IPv4 information.

For Vista Users:

  • Click Start
  • Type cmd into the Start Search bar
  • Press Enter/Return

You should see the command prompt:

  • Type in ipconfig
  • Press Enter

You will get list of IP information similar to the one shown above, only more detailed Scroll through the information, locate IPv4 (not IPv6).





For MAC OS Users:

Go to: / Applications / Utilities / Terminal.app / type in ‘ifconfig’ / you will then see IP address
